Position required: C&B Director, Human Resources, Greater China

In this role, the position holder is responsible to lead China Compensation & Benefits and HR Operations team, as well as playing C&B COE for Greater China.

Location: Shanghai

Reporting to:
Solid line report to Chief HR Officer, Greater China (based in Shanghai, China); Dotted line report to SVP, Global C&B (based in US)

Number of subordinates:
8-10, including direct and indirect reports. China: 7-9, HK: 1, TW: 1. Within the 8-10, 6 are Nielsen full time employees.

The Company is seeking an experienced and results-driven Human Resources Professional. In the role, the individual will take responsibility for salary benchmarking and market competitiveness studies, short and long term incentive scheme calculations, international assignment management and benefits programmes. The individual will have previous regional C&B experience and also have a passion to work in a fast-paced company that is rapidly evolving. Ideally the candidate should have come through a consulting background before transitioning into an in-house C&B role. Naturally, the individual should have a strong head for numbers and also an ability to survive well within a large complex, inter-linked organization with many stakeholders.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage C&B strategy, such as compensation models, bonus plans, salary structure, job evaluation, individual packages consulting etc, for Greater China (including China, Hongkong, Taiwan);
  • Partner with line managers to develop a competitive and cost effective C&B product and services which best support the business for growth.
  • Conduct and analyze results of compensation surveys and obtain all necessary information to prepare compensation proposals and budgets for corporate consideration. Update the management team on the market trend, oversee and develop compensation and benefits program for various departments all over China. This include evaluate, establish and align internal compensation and benefits processes and policies.
  • Participate in annual planning of compensation and benefits program including Merit Increase, Performance Incentive Plan, and Sales Incentive plan and administration, social/ supplemental insurance plan etc.
  • Participate in the global or local activities to design and develop HR information system for HR database to ensure an efficient system in placed for easy entry, storage, retrieve essential data to facilitate business decision making.
  • Lead C&B and HR operation team in China and oversee the team in HK and TW, provide advice to TW and HK HR Directors as well.
  • Act as a bridge between global C&B team and local HR team and ensure smooth program roll out or policy execution, participate global COE conference calls.
  • Play HR Business Partner’s role for designated group in GC if necessary.

Requirements:

  • Leadership ability and demonstrated 'working' knowledge of operations, sales, finance, quality, procurement and HR activities.
  • Must have relevant experience and track records in compensation, benefits, rewards and recognition programs management at a country level.
  • Had solid experience in designing and managing sales incentive, bonus scheme, salary structure / grading, and performance management programs.
  • 8 or more years experiences in HR, at least 5 years in compensation and benefits design and implementation, working in a multinational or multi-business unit environment will be an advantage.
  • Bachelor Degree and above.
  • Strong knowledge of China Employment Laws and Regulations required.
  • Strong problem solving skills and experience.
  • Strong in using excel and tools (including Platinum and SAP).
  • Fluent in both Mandarin and English.
