Supplier Quality Systems Manager

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities

  • Supplier quality manager to lead and manage the team of supplier quality engineers, which include recruit and train new team members, lead and manage the performance of the team.
  • Lead the team and work with partners internally and externally to achieve defined goals, which includes, but not limited to, supplier and incoming materials quality, non-conforming materials scrap, etc.
  • Leads the process of qualifying and selecting appropriate suppliers in terms of assessment of supplier quality system and process control.
  • Must have strong background in Supplier Quality Systems and maintain ThermoFisher China Supplier Quality Manuel
  • Defines and implements supplier outgoing and Thermofisher incoming acceptance requirement and process
  • Manage on going supplier evaluation and supplier quality level to meet and exceed ThermoFisher requirement on parts quality and product quality. Responsible for supplier quality scorecard including process to retrieve data, analysis and report, supplier corrective and preventive action request and follow up for completion.
  • Coordinate source inspection activity at supplier as well as receiving inspection activity at ThermoFisher factory
  • In conjunction with various teams internally and externally, develop and implement programs for improving supplier quality.
  • Manage the whole process of non-conforming materials disposition effectively and efficiently.
  • Drives continuously cost savings year over year for already local sourced items through supplier process improvement.
  • Actively participate in purchase agreements development and negotiation in accordance with ThermoFisher policies, procedures, and approval authority. Lead the section of supplier quality management and monitor the negotiated agreement to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Lead or actively participate the development and execution of sourcing strategies. Analyzes industry trends to assess short and long term strategic goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for understanding developments and changes at suppliers that may affect the supply chain of the commodities purchased.
  • Develop, implement, track and report responsible metrics.
  • Manage and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of all documentation and processes to meet business and quality requirements.


  • Up to 40% travel may be required, as necessary to transact business at supplier locations.
  • Weekly phone calls with western sites
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering is required.
  • Experience (minimum of 5 years) in managing supplier quality for specified commodities.
  • Quality system and regulatory knowledge to the assigned components.
  • Knowledge in process control: 6 sigma, FEMA, CP/CPK, control plan, etc.
  • Understands the manufacturing process and critical factors for assigned responsibilities.
  • Good analytical skills (identify, analyze and resolve problems).
  • Experience in World Class supply chain methodologies and Continuous Improvement processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with proven ability to effectively interact with multiple organizational units.
  • Must be able to work on multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously, while acting in a decisive manner and demonstrating a bias for action.
  • Demonstrated track record for improving supplier quality.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and experience with ERP systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
